'Magadheera' banned in Vizianagaram

Minister Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday made an unusual announcement, stating that the government had banned screening of “Magadheera” film in the entire Vizianagaram district in the wake of death of five people at Sri Lakshmi theatre in Salur in the district a couple of days ago.

Botsa’s announcement came as a surprise and shock to many film lovers and made them wonder whether it was a sort of witch-hunting of Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi, whose son Ramacharan Teja is the hero of the film. If the government was so concerned about the safety of film viewers, it should take action against all the theatres in the district and ask them to close down till they make fool proof arrangements to prevent any such mishaps in future.

But, the government singled out only those theatres screening Magadheera. No logic was given for the decision. Does it mean all the other theatres have proper facilities? And if the theatres screening Magadheera switch over to other films, will the government allow them?

Answers please.
